Local wedding planners say 2023 is full of memorable trends

Wedding season is just around the corner. That means final fittings, following up on RSVPs, putting together seating arrangements and preparing to spend the rest of your life with the person you love most.

Wedding planning is no easy feat, and there are planners throughout Northern Kentucky who can help. Christina Burton Events and At Your Ease Ceremonies & Events are just two who can bring your wedding vision to life. We spoke with both to hear more about what they’re seeing brides go for this wedding season.

Christy Babb is owner of Christina Burton Events, a full-service wedding design and planning company. “Whether you need full-service design and planning or day-of coordination to ensure your event day is perfect, Christina Burton Events oversees every detail while maintaining your budget, negotiating with vendors, selecting the perfect vendor team for your vision and budget, providing detailed event timelines and handling anything that arises on your day,” she says. 

Babb says that while working with brides for weddings this year she’s seen a lot of colorful palettes. “This has been an exciting change from very traditional color palettes we’ve seen over the past several years,” she says. 

Additionally, couples have larger guest counts and are maintaining a big emphasis on the overall guest experience. Oftentimes, she says, this includes entire wedding weekends of festivities instead of activities on the wedding day. 

Sunara Line is the owner of At Your Ease Ceremonies & Events, an all-inclusive wedding and event planning/coordination company. “We pride ourselves in providing multiple services that can make any client feel at ease about creating a vision for the celebration of their dreams,” she says. 

Wedding planning services offered by At Your Ease Ceremonies & Events include ceremony officiating, wedding management/day-of coordination, partial wedding planning, full wedding planning, design and other types of event planning and design. 

“We are very flexible with our packages and services because, just like each couple, all weddings are different and unique,” she says. “We have an initial phone call to discuss details and vision, then build their customized proposal based on their needs and budget.”

Line says she’s seen several trends this year that she said stick out to her.

Line says that more couples are doing first looks than in years past. She said it provides the couple a moment to see each other just before the ceremony to take it all in. “The photos from this moment are probably my favorite ones in all the portfolios we get back,” she says.

When it comes to colors, Line says using green or emerald green and lots of floral greenery with gold accents has been a favorite. Additionally, she is loving the trend of cocktail hour before the ceremony.

“This means guests will show up, get some apps and drinks upon arrival, and be able to be seated for the ceremony with a drink in their hand,” she says. “It’s a beautiful thing. Then, right after the ceremony, there can be 30 minutes of dancing and more apps and drinks before dinner.”

As the wedding season progresses, Line says she’s excited to see the originality that couples bring to their weddings. “Everyone deserves the party of their dreams and who cares if it’s not the same wedding your grandparents had 50 years ago,” she says.

Both Babb and Line enjoy the work they get to do on a daily basis. “Every connection you have with your venues, your vendors, your networking team, it matters,” says Line. “Anticipating guests and clients’ needs before they even realize they needed something is my favorite part of this job.”
