Hit Covington’s best bars and restaurants with Pedal Wagon Covington
Picture it: It’s finally spring and it’s warm enough that you can venture outside without a coat. The sun is shining and you’re ready to hang out with friends. Instead of going the traditional route of getting in the car and driving to your destination, you turn to Pedal Wagon.
With its home base located outside of Braxton Brewery, Pedal Wagon Covington offers tours that will take you throughout the community to visit local restaurants and bars on a pedal-powered cruiser that seats up to 15 passengers.
“The Pedal Wagon is a multi-passenger, pedal-powered, rolling celebration,” says Pedal Wagon’s David Ratcliff. “Operating seven days a week, you can reserve the entire Pedal Wagon for a private cruise or just part of it on a public cruise.”
The inspiration for Pedal Wagon arose from Ratcliff’s passion to showcase local businesses while also showing off the city of Covington. “Accomplishing this on a pedal wagon just seemed fitting,” he says.
There are several tours available through Pedal Wagon, but if you want to see Covington’s most-loved restaurants and bars, you’ll want to check out the Bourbon Cruise, Covington Cruiser and Bikes, Bevies, and Brunch Cruise.
“The Covington Cruiser takes guests to some of the best spots in the Covington area,” says Ratcliff.
Pedalers get to experience historic Covington on the two-hour Covington Cruiser that takes you across MainStrasse, Downtown and Roebling Point. The cruise includes two to three stops at the city’s most eclectic, best-kept-secret establishments but also provides guests with the opportunity to choose their own stops.
“We also offer a Bourbon Cruise, which features partner stops that have some of the best bourbon experiences in the area,” says Ratcliff.
Guests stop at some of Covington’s best bars and restaurants where you can dine and drink while learning why Kentucky is called the Bourbon State. As with the Covington Cruiser, captains can suggest the best route but give guests the option to choose their own stops.
“On Saturdays and Sundays, we have a Bikes, Bevies, and Brunch route that features a drop-off at a partner brunch location,” says Ratcliff.
The cruise starts with two stops at a Pedal Wagon partner bar for discounted drink specials before ending at one of Covington’s top-ranked restaurants. Ratcliff says the options for brunch depend on where you’re pedaling.
Possible stops include Cock & Bull Public House, House of Orange Sports Bar & Grill, The Gruff, Molly Malone’s Irish Pub & Restaurant and Smoke Justis.
Although the tours are unique, Ratcliff says Pedal Wagon Covington wouldn’t be what it is today without its drivers. “Their dedication to provide a fun, safe and unique experience is what drives our business and what makes us Pedal Wagon,” he says.
