Scuba Santa Returns to Newport Aquarium for the Holiday Season

Visitors to Newport Aquarium can deliver Christmas wishes in an unexpected way this holiday season — underwater. Scuba Santa, a longtime holiday tradition at the aquarium, returns with an immersive display that features Santa swimming among sharks, rays and other sea life.

The final day to see Scuba Santa this year is Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The experience invites children and families to watch as Santa glides through the tanks, sending bubbles and holiday cheer throughout the aquarium. Elf characters also make appearances, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Scuba Santa is just one of several seasonal events taking place at Newport Aquarium. On Dec. 26, the aquarium will host its Nauti or Nice event, an after-hours celebration for guests 21 and older. Attendees are encouraged to wear their tackiest holiday sweaters for a chance to win prizes and enjoy a silent disco. The event will also feature themed cocktails, including spiked hot chocolate.

Newport Aquarium is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Meet-and-greet times for Scuba Santa vary and are posted on the aquarium’s website. For more information about the Newport Aquarium, visit its website.
