The best ways to stay cool this summer
By now, it’s safe to say that it is going to be a steamy summer in Northern Kentucky for the rest of the season. Here are a few sure-fire ways to beat the heat!
Grab a Scoop
Graeter’s is always a safe pick for ice cream in NKY, but the city and surrounding suburbs are home to a variety of charming local establishments. Try a Creamy Whip for a cool alternative. The Norwood Creamy Whip is located on 499 Forest Ave, Norwood. Mt. Washington Creamy Whip is on 2069 Beechmont Ave., in Mt. Washington and Putz’s Creamy Whip is on 2673 Putz Place.
Hang Out With Sharks
Stay cool during a day at the Newport Aquarium—which is once again hosting Shark Summer, an interactive event that allows visitors to touch live sharks and a Megalodon shark tooth. The tooth is believed to be between three million and 20 million years old!
Take a Dip
Still the classic and most effective way to beat the heat, NKY is full of public and private pools and splash pads. Goebel Pool is located along Philadelphia Street and is Covington’s public pool. Randolph Park located between West 5th St. and West 9th St. and has an Olympic-sized pool for recreational swimming. For families with young children, the Latonia Water Park, located in the Bill Cappel Sports Complex, is a zero-depth park that offers hoses, sprinklers and slides.
