 Christmas Lights, Santa & More

Northern Kentucky has plenty of magic this holiday season

Christmas only comes around once a year, so December is an important month to pack as much seasonal magic into it as you can. Luckily for you, there’s plenty to see and do in Northern Kentucky to celebrate the holiday.

Light Up the Fair

The fairly-new Burlington-based light display has been dazzling families throughout the region. During the holiday season, the Boone County Fairgrounds transforms into a twinkling winter wonderland that bring the Christmas spirit alive. Boone Lighting Effects manages the one million LED lights that are synced to music. Families can enjoy the lights and music—broadcast on 97.9 FM—from the comfort of their car. Don’t miss out on one of the country’s largest lights attractions this season.

Meet Scuba Santa

This Christmas season, you can find Santa under the sea at the Newport Aquarium. Scuba Santa swims in an underwater tank—full of sharks and other sea creatures—where you can see him on full display for plenty of photo opportunities. Seeing Scuba Santa is included with admission and on select days, your child can meet Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. Meeting Scuba Santa is a must-do this Christmas.

Neighborhood Lights

Driving through local neighborhoods and enjoying the magical lights on display is a classic Christmas tradition for many families. And Northern Kentucky just so happens to have plenty of wonderful cities and neighborhoods to drive through. Newport, Covington, Florence, Fort Thomas, Burlington, Bellevue—you name it. You can find dazzling lights almost anywhere you look in NKY. Hop in your car, put on the Christmas carols, and admire the beauty locally.
