 Graeter’s Unveils Skyline Collab

Two Cincinnati staples have combined for a controversial (and delicious) product

Earlier this week, Graeter’s Ice Cream and Skyline Chili—both icons of Cincinnati—launched a limited edition “Skyline Spice” ice cream.

“This is the first time Skyline has done a dessert collaboration, so we knew it needed to be worth it,” Dick Williams, Skyline Chili CEO, said in a press release. “Graeter’s Skyline Spice Ice Cream has the heart and soul of both beloved Midwest-born brands in every bite.”

While Skyline Chili can be divisive, Graeter’s Ice Cream seems to be universally loved. The collaboration of two iconic Cincinnati food brands has not been seen before, and the product is surprisingly delicious.

While some online said that the flavor was reminiscent of Skyline Chili, the main flavor profile is cinnamon. While Skyline does have this similar cinnamon flavor, those worried that the ice cream will taste too savory do not need to fret.

The addition of mostly flavorless, salty Skyline oyster crackers is a welcome counterpart to the warm and rich cinnamon ice cream.

“Everyone who knows chili knows Skyline and, as longtime fans ourselves, we were eager to collaborate on a one-of-a-kind, must-try flavor,” Richard Graeter, fourth-generation president and CEO of Graeter’s, said in the press release. “Last year, speculation about our unconventional and somewhat polarizing partnership started a social media frenzy. We spent months perfecting the recipe and are extremely happy to confirm the rumors are true—and the flavor will surprise you.”

You can find the ice cream by the pint at select Kroger stores throughout Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville, Ky. and at Graeters.com for nationwide shipping. You can also stop in at a Graeter’s Scoop Shop or at Skyline Chili restaurant for a pint, scoop or 5-oz container.
