With warmer weather on our doorstep, there is sometimes nothing better than a patio or a rooftop night out. Luckily, Northern Kentucky is home to rooftops and patios aplenty. Offering lively atmospheres, stunning views and delicious drinks, here is a list of bars and breweries offering libations al fresco.
A sure sign of summer, Braxton Brewing in Covington is due to open its rooftop in the next few weeks. Offering panoramic views of the Cincinnati skyline, the space features all the pours from the taproom, along with wine and frozen cocktails. What’s more, in the winter, guests can reserve heated igloos for a cozy experience.

Second Story in Covington is known for its bohemian escape and impressive indoor tree art installations. Outside, though, the expansive patio is the largest in Covington, according to the owners. It is there that guests can enjoy craft cocktails, such as the Sandia Fresca and St. Charles Sling, in an open-format space designed for large gatherings and intimate meet-ups.

Bircus Brewing Company in Ludlow offers an exciting blend of craft beer and circus entertainment. Located in the historic Ludlow Theater, this circus-inspired microbrewery features a spacious outdoor beer garden where guests can enjoy wood-fired pizzas and a variety of craft beers. The venue hosts live performances ranging from circus acts to music and comedy to ensure visitors stay entertained.

Bridgeview Box Park at Newport on the Levee, a part of the destination’s recent revamp efforts, offers panoramic views of the Cincinnati skyline. The open-air venue features a collection of local vendors housed in repurposed shipping containers, offering a mix of food and drink options. Guests can enjoy tiki-themed cocktails from Kon-Tiki and craft brews from Wooden Cask Brewery, plus outdoor games like cornhole and giant Jenga are sure to keep everyone entertained.

Darkness Brewing in Bellevue offers a community-focused taproom known for its dark and experimental beer styles.
