Acclaimed Cincinnati artist Cedric Michael Cox displays work at Baker Hunt

As summer wraps up and fall begins, there is still plenty to do in Northern Kentucky. Concert venues, theatres, restaurants, and art exhibits have all reopened for the public to enjoy—including the Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center.

From Oct. 1 – Oct. 29, Baker Hunt will present “Mindful Joy,” an exhibition highlighting the recent work of highly acclaimed Cincinnati artist Cedric Michael Cox. The exhibit will showcase over a dozen new pieces of artwork in the historic ballroom at Baker Hunt.

According to a press release from Baker Hunt, “Mindful Joy” is a reference to the contemplative inner peace that Cox both cultivates and experiences when he creates art. Cox’s artwork embodies the feeling of separating from negativity.

“Mindful Joy” combines manmade forms with internal human anatomy as a way of telling Cox’s story from the inside out. In the press release, Cox says, “I […] create paintings that celebrate the enduring positive spirit of humanity through passionate color.”

Cox is a well-known vibrant cubist and acclaimed for his paintings and drawings that merge surrealism and representational abstraction.
