Agave & Rye updates its Covington menu this summer
Agave & Rye, a tacos and tequila restaurant in Covington that has expanded to more than a dozen locations in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and Alabama, has rolled out new menu items for the summer. The restaurant’s original location in Covington opened in 2018 and was born from owners Yavonne and Wade Sarber’s deep passion for the restaurant industry, and from their understanding of how impactful a restaurant could be when it’s done right.
Agave & Rye is known for epic tacos and strives for its menu to never be stagnant.
“We try to update our menus two-t0-four times a year depending on seasonal items,” says Chris Britt, chief operating officer at Agave & Rye.
“We removed five [tacos] and added five new ones, which the feedback so far has been super exciting from the guests. One of those is called The Beekeeper, which is herbed chicken, which we match with green apple slaw, and then we top that with a strawberry jalapeno tequila salsa, which is super popular,” says Britt.
Another new item is The Happy Pappy, which is double shell tacos with guacamole cushions between the two shells for carnitas, queso, rice and corn salad, barbecue and onions, which became popular as well.
The Mamasita’s Casa Baby Tacos allow guests are ideal for those wanting a smaller meal, as they consist of three small flour tortillas, and they’re all loaded with a series of taco options ranging from chicken and steak to vegetarian.
Besides offering epic tacos, the team of people working at Agave & Rye is committed to the businesses’ values and being humble. “We pride ourselves in being able to follow our core values, which are love, respect, inspiring the community, exceeding expectations and epic hospitality,” says Britt.
One of the restaurant’s main focuses is training and creating a safe environment for employees to enjoy their experience taking care of guests. Even though it’s more difficult, they believe it’s definitely worth the investment.
“It’s all about people. We like to say our restaurants become better when the people in our restaurants become better people. And we really pride ourselves on that mentoring, that training, that leading leadership, that coaching and development of others within our brand,” says Britt.
The restaurant is looking at potentially opening a few more locations this year.
“We’re very careful and strategic and thinking on where we want to go, and we’re not going to be reckless, but we’re going to be aggressive because it allows us to fulfill our dream of providing more opportunities to team members and communities across the country,” says Britt.
