Summer is almost here which means everyone is wanting to spend some time in the sun. If you’re idea of outdoor fun is exploring nature, these hikes in Northern Kentucky are for you. Water and sturdy shoes advised.

Tower Park Trail Loop – Fort Thomas

Enjoy this beautiful tree-covered trail around Fort Thomas’ Tower Park. Some of the trail features a view of the Ohio River, so definitely come on a day that isn’t rainy and dreary. This trail is primarily used for hiking, walking and running but you may run into some bikers—so be aware.

Black Squirrel and Bluebird Trail – Fort Mitchell

Don’t be startled that this trail is in a cemetery—it still has loads to offer. In the warmer months, watch as flowers bloom along this wooded trail. Listen to water trickle down creeks and cascade over mini waterfalls.

Middle Creek Park Loop – Burlington

Put on your hiking boots for this 3-mile loop that crosses over and near creeks and ridges. Take a journey through Burlington’s more quiet side and enjoy this forest trail. Keep your eyes peeled for various types of wildlife, flora and fauna.
