The journey to parenthood is different for everyone. This local doula offers services rooted in compassion, understanding and nonjudgement.
Real life experiences can inspire you in ways you never thought possible. For Cayla Cupp, the ah-ha moment that inspired her came when she supported a friend going through pregnancy.
“She found herself pregnant with limited support and I jumped right in to support her the best that I could,” explains Cupp. “In doing this, I realized the lack of guidance in pregnancy, the amount of misconceptions surrounding birth and the lack of support during the postpartum period.”
A year later, Cupp found herself becoming a certified labor and postpartum doula. She’s now the owner of Cayla Cupp Birth + Beyond, offering prenatal, birth and postpartum services to families in Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati and Dayton.
“I am a certified Labor Doula, Postpartum and Infant Care Doula, and am in the process of certifying in Placenta Encapsulation,” she says. “I also partner with some other incredible doulas in the area and work alongside New Phases Birth Co. and Tender Beginnings Birth & Parenting to support as many new and growing families as I can.”
Cupp believes in the importance of having a doula, and how much support they can offer throughout the pregnancy journey.
“It’s not a secret that parenthood can be overwhelming,” she says. “Navigating finding a provider, outside opinions and, of course, all of the emotions and lifestyle changes that come along, too, can be pretty stressful.”
And that’s where Cupp comes in. She meets with her soon-to-be and newly anointed parents exactly where they are in their journey and supports their individual needs in every moment along the way.
“Whether it’s your first pregnancy and you have all the questions, or this is your fifth and you just want a more positive birth experience, a doula adapts to your goals and gives you everything you need to feel confident during your journey,” she says.
Cupp says her care is rooted in inclusivity, empowerment and research.
“Regardless of how a family identifies, pays their bills or spends their time, I provide the same compassionate and professional level of care to everyone across the board,” she says. “Rather than believe any birth plan or goal is better than another, I believe that each family deserves to choose what’s best for them without judgement. That means supporting all birthing bodies, in all environments, always.”
