Commonwealth Bank & Trust’s focus on personal service has made it a success
With its two branches in Edgewood and Florence, Commonwealth Bank & Trust has built a long-standing reputation across Northern Kentucky for personal service. Headquartered in Louisville, Commonwealth operates a total of 15 branches in Kentucky as well as several remote mortgage offices across the state.
“We were voted Best of Northern Kentucky in NKY Magazine and that can be attributed to the way we build relationships,” says Audra Kordenbrock, branch manager/business development officer in the bank’s branch in Edgewood. “When people walk in our door, we still use a very consultative approach. We talk to them. We ask questions. We find out which of our products and services best fit them. And we have a lot of long-standing relationships.”

As a full-service bank, Commonwealth Bank & Trust offers traditional in-branch services, as well as easy-to-use online and mobile banking options. Services include personal and business banking, commercial lending, commercial real estate lending, private banking, wealth management, trust services and mortgage lending.
“Commonwealth Bank & Trust has enjoyed a very successful run here,” says Corey Sidebottom, senior vice president/Northern Kentucky market executive. “We acquired First Security Trust Bank in 2014. Since that time the bank has experienced significant loan and deposit growth. In 2020, we moved the Edgewood location and opened a newly renovated office that has served as a People’s Bank and a Bank of Kentucky location.

“The overall success of Commonwealth Bank & Trust is a credit to our employees, clients and leadership of the bank,” Sidebottom adds. “Lori Burdine, Audra Kordenbrock, LaDona Peavler King and others have been great leaders for us here in Northern Kentucky. Their volunteerism to the communities we serve is admirable. From the bank’s Trunk or Treat to our Meet Local/Eat Local events, CB&T employees exemplify what it means to be a community bank and community partner.”
Commonwealth Bank & Trust’s history in Kentucky dates back to 1887.
In addition to its locations in Florence and Edgewood, Commonwealth Bank & Trust has nine branches in Jefferson County and four in Shelby County. It has over $1.3 billion in bank assets and manages $2.6 billion in wealth management and trust assets.
The bank will soon benefit from the power of a larger financial institution.
At the beginning of August, Stock Yards Bank & Trust entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Commonwealth Bank & Trust, which should be completed in the fourth quarter. The combined banks will service customers through 79 branches with total assets of approximately $7.4 billion, $4.9 billion in gross loans, $6.4 billion in deposits and $7 billion in trust assets under management. In addition to more options for locations and expanded services, Commonwealth Bank customers will also benefit from the shared best practices and depth of experience of both well-established banks.
However, don’t expect the level of service you receive at Commonwealth to change. While the acquisition will greatly expand its footprint, the folks at Commonwealth Bank & Trust will remain dedicated to delivering the same level of personal service that its clients and customers have come to expect.
And you’ll still see a lot of the same smiling faces when you walk into a branch.
