Braxton Brewing has brought back its unique outdoor dining option
Braxton Brewing Company’s location in Covington recently brought back its rooftop IGLOOBAR for the third year in a row.
“We launched IGLOOBAR at the height of COVID because we needed a unique way for customers to be safe while enjoying outdoor dining at a time when you really couldn’t be inside,” says Jake Rouse, co-founder and CEO of Braxton Brewing. “We joke that it was probably the only good thing that came out of COVID—it gave us an opportunity to really re-imagine our rooftop space.”
Each heated igloo can fit about eight people. The igloos have cozy interiors and a Bluetooth speaker option. It costs $35 to reserve one igloo for two and a half hours. Reservations are allowed to be made back-to-back if that is not enough igloo time for you. Multiple igloos can be rented simultaneously as well. It’s a great way for friends to get together for a fun, festive outdoor dining experience in Northern Kentucky during these colder months.
Braxton Brewing was born out of a garage in Northern Kentucky. It was founded by Rouse, his brother Evan and their dad Greg. “My brother was always very passionate about creating amazing beers,” says Rouse, “so we took that leap of faith together and launched it in a big way.” The brewery officially opened in 2015. The IGLOOBAR is a sign of just how far this local business has come since those days in the garage.
Rouse says that they have leveled-up the IGLOOBAR this year by upgrading the décor and adding cocktails and a unique food menu to the mix. Each igloo now has “15 beers on tap, an expansive cocktail menu, three wines on tap, Vive hard seltzer and a limited selection of liquor.” The new and improved food menu includes pretzels with cheese, empanadas and butter boards.

The Igloos are transparent so you will still be able to enjoy the view from Braxton’s rooftop, too.
Built to withstand the elements, the igloos will remain open through snow and rain (possibly with the exception of lightning, which could prompt an evacuation). Although the igloos are heated and throw blankets are available, guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets as well. Only people 21 years old and older are permitted to be in the igloos. Dogs are not allowed.
Rouse thinks what makes the IGLOOBAR special is that it gives Braxton Brewing an outlet to try unique things—bringing customers back for a different experience every time. The positive feedback and repeat customers are a sign that the IGLOOBAR might be here to stay. The igloos stay open through the winter and close around St. Patrick’s Day. Braxton Brewing is located at 27 W. Seventh St. in Covington and you can reserve your very own igloo bar or learn more at braxtonbrewing.com/products/igloobar.
