Rump & Roll into the New Year

There is a new deli and bakery in town called Rump & Roll Delicatessen.

Located at 526 6th Ave. in Dayton, Kentucky, Rump & Roll hosted its grand opening on Oct. 1, 2025. The owner, Tavis Rockwell, offers a variety of menu items from an array of meats and soups to croissants and quiches.

“Right now, I have chuck roast and chuck stew meat,” Rockwell says. “I’ve got a whole New York strip and whole rib eyes that I can cut to any size that people would like. I have ducks in the freezer. I have fresh chicken and fresh ground beef. Also, beef tenderloin for filets and fresh bacon for sale.”

Along with this selection of meat from Chef’s Warehouse, Rockwell has crafted ten signature sandwiches, all made with bread from Sixteen Bricks in Cincinnati. Some of the more popular sandwiches include the roasted turkey club or the hot and spicy Italian, Rockwell says. Additionally, customers can create their own sandwich.

On the side, customers can choose from a cold salad selection that includes potato, broccoli, tortellini antipasti, egg and chicken salad. Also available are house-made soups such as tomato, or beef and noodle soup.

Rump & Roll has a Grab and Go station as well for the customers’ convenience. “There’s pickles, pimento cheese, ham salad and little chicken pot pies,” Rockwell says. “I am going to be making meatloaf to put in there. I could have food trays, a TV dinner of sorts for you, so you don’t have to worry about dinner.” To top it all off, Rockwell sells a variety of baked goods including pies, cookies and brownies.

In the new year, Rockwell hopes to have online ordering for pickup and expand into catering. Above all, Rockwell hopes to meet the customers’ needs, letting them decide what the deli will serve. “I love the people in the community and just the vibe,” he says. “The community really does come together to help you.”
